Independent Motor Carrier Record
RateMyDOT
Private Platform · Not a Government Service

Every US motor carrier’s public FMCSA record, sourced and dated, before you sign on.

Why this exists

A carrier decision should not begin in the dark.

Truck drivers choose where to work with less usable information than the decision deserves. The federal record is public, but public is not the same as clear. RateMyDOT turns that record into something a driver can read before signing on, and builds a protected place for drivers to report the facts the federal file can never contain.

Before

A federal filing

Authority codes, MCS-150 dates, fleet counts, crash-rate fields, and status values spread across systems built for filing and enforcement, not for a driver comparing job offers.

RateMyDOT

A dated, readable record

The same source facts, organized around the questions a driver actually has, with plain labels, source dates, uncertainty disclosed, and a direct link back to FMCSA SAFER.

Two layers, kept separate

Layer 1: the public record

Carrier identity, operating authority, fleet filings, observed changes, and the RateMyDOT Health Score. Every carrier runs through the same process. A carrier cannot pay to move the score or hide the underlying federal record.

Layer 2: driver reports

What it was actually like to work there: pay, equipment, home time, treatment, and contract practice. Reports are self-attested, separated from confirmed accounts by blind tokens, and delayed and batched so the timing does not point back to one person.

Built around limits, not slogans

  • RateMyDOT is independent and is not affiliated with FMCSA or USDOT.
  • The Health Score is RateMyDOT’s measure, not a federal safety rating.
  • No database column connects a driver account to a published review.
  • Street addresses, officer names, and phone numbers are deliberately withheld here.
  • RateMyDOT is for evaluating carriers, not for screening or evaluating drivers.

The RateMyDOT guarantee

No carrier can pay to change its Health Score, hide its public FMCSA record, or receive preferential treatment in a dispute. RateMyDOT currently charges no fees and collects no payment-card information.
